Willie Nelson tour bus crashes in rain; 3 injured
Whether there were blue eyes cryin’ is not known, but rain was a factor in a bus accident that injured three members of country music legend Willie Nelson’s band recently. The tour bus crashed on the highway during a rain storm, perhaps demonstrating how a bus driver’s failure to adjust speed for conditions can cause serious injury.
The bus was carrying members of Nelson’s band on Interstate 30 in Texas. It was driving overnight, and heavy rains developed, according to a state trooper. A message on Nelson’s website described the road conditions that night as “icy.”
Thanksgiving a time for family, good cheer — and car accidents
The California Office of Traffic Safety has an important message for people driving to a Thanksgiving celebration this weekend: if you try to drive drunk or distracted, you could get a serious fine. That is true any time of year, of course, but law enforcement is stepping up patrols over the holiday weekend with the help of a DWI defense lawyer, trying to prevent any fatal car accidents due to impaired or distracted drivers.
Hopefully, nobody will be hurt or killed in an auto accident over the holiday period. But if history is any indication, there will be several deadly collisions on the nation’s highways and roads. There were 249 traffic fatalities in the U.S. over Thanksgiving weekend in 2011, according to federal government figures.
